Lovelace cardiology, vascular care and rehabilitation services

Lovelace Health System is proud to announce a partnership with United Health Care Commercial Health Plan to give our patients comprehensive and advanced cardiology and vascular care at:

• Heart Hospital of New Mexico @ Lovelace Medical Center

• Cardiac Care Consultants @ Lovelace Westside Hospital

• Lovelace Women’s Hospital Cardiology

This means our patients now have access to all of our skilled and experienced cardiologists, vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists and support staff who are committed to the treatment and prevention of heart disease through innovative, state-of-the-art technology.

(Neurology), Jayce Powell, FNP (Orthopedics), Juanita Martinez,
PA-C, (General Surgery)

Sharon Cooperman, M.D., Ph.D. is a board certified neurologist. Dr. Cooperman received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, followed by her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, Tufts University Medical School in Boston. She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. In addition to board certification in neurology, she is board certified in clinical neurophysiology, sleep medicine and vascular neurology.

Jayce Powell, FNP, is a family nurse practitioner with extensive experience in orthopedics, primarily as a hand specialist with a focus on operative conditions of the hand and upper extremity. Jayce received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University followed by his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of St. Francis.

Jayce treats general orthopedic concerns along with fractures, trigger fingers, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel and numerous others.

Juanita Martinez, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant specializing in general surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of New Mexico.

Juanita has experience in emergency medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine.

Lovelace Senior Summit educates seniors on the importance of caring for the heart for National Heart Month

The annual Lovelace Senior Health Summit was held last week at the Marriott Pyramid. The event featured Mel Peralta, M.D., FACC, and Michael Hoskins, M.D., from New Mexico Heart Institute/Lovelace Medical Group, who spoke about the importance of a heart-healthy lifestyle.
